Share Your Experience with Students in Your Community
Submitted by Advocis Toronto Chapter on February 24th, 2018After great success with last year’s initiative, Advocis Toronto is once again partnering with Junior Achievement Central Ontario. The objective is to connect our Toronto Chapter members with their charters to create opportunities for our members to deliver financially related programs to school-aged children.
Not only will we be delivering a fun and interesting financial program, but we will also be acting as excellent role-models for our profession.
Program Details: Dollars with Sense
The Dollars with Sense program demonstrates how students can financially manage changes in career and life directions. From the origins of trade to the ins and outs of investing, Dollars with Sense provides experience they need to make better economic decisions. Students play an investment strategies game to learn about effective spending and how to avoid credit and debt pitfalls. The best return on investment is smarter financial growth.
Police Screening Information
As of September 2016, all volunteers that deliver in TDSB schools require police screening. JA will take care of the procedure and cover the application costs. Once you have registered for the event, you will be contacted by your JA coordinator to go over the screening details. If you do not wish to get screening done but still want to volunteer, a school location can be arranged for you outside of the Toronto District School Board.
Teleconference Training: Thursday, May 1st - 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Part of your JA experience involves attending a one-hour program-specific training session prior to entering the classroom. At this time you will receive the materials you will bring into the classroom with you. These training sessions are important as they provide you the information you will need for your day in the class.
